Chillblains

Chilblains are damage to the skin that occurs due to incorrect behaviour of the small blood vessels in the skin, in response to temperature changes that are too abrupt. They are often itchy or painful, and can look red, blue or purple. They may take up to 3 weeks, or even longer, to heal.

Prevention involves maintaining the core and peripheral temperatures of the body in an even state during the colder months – in the video Hazel talks about particular things you can do to keep Chilblains from occurring.
